When Dillan came to me with the goal of capturing a surprise proposal I could’t have been more excited. Together with his future sister-in-law, we planned the engagement session of my dreams! Of course we were nervous about the forecasted rain, but decided to embrace it. Thankfully we did, because minutes before Dillan was going to get down on one knee the clouds parted just enough for some moody winter afternoon sunshine.

Vanderbilt Mansion, located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, was the location of choice for the session. I knew when Dillan told me it was the location of one of his and Kim’s first dates that the old-world architecture would provide a vintage masterpiece backdrop for the session.

Anyone who’s been engaged can totally remember that hazy feeling of complete enamourment in the moments following a fresh engagement. I really wanted these photos to mirror that feeling, bringing Dillan and Kim back to that moment every time they look at their photos.

Kim and Dillan were happy, to say the least! I truly loved documenting this special moment in their lives!
